listening to soft music
This website offers free downloads of the complete extant organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach, recorded by Dr. James Kibbie from 2007 to 2009 on original baroque organs in Germany.
Exactly which works should be recorded? More than 250 years after Bach's death, it is by no means certain exactly what he composed. The selection of works for this series draws on the Bach Werke Verzeichnis, Kleine Ausgabe (Breitkopf & Härtel, 1998), supplemented by other recent scholarship, including the work of Prof. Christoph Wolff and the research of the Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Institut Göttingen. Bach's organ transcriptions of works by other composers have been included. Dr. Kibbie has also recorded those works which survive only as fragments, leaving these works incomplete as they exist in the manuscript sources.

For my Design students
From the article:
``(Korea has a) knack for designing cute adorable characters. From a design point of view, it’s probably the best in the world,’’ ...
``I think the area that needs the most development is writing, or in other words, telling the story. Writing is the most important and also the least expensive part. Design-heavy cannot be beaten without the writing. (Korea should consider) what is the narrative art? What is the relationship between the characters? The show bible (for such programs) is more like a triangle. Design is only one part of the triangle and the other two are writing and curriculum. This is what is largely lacking in most of the preschool shows in Korea, but I do think that’s changing,’’ Selig said.
To sum up, Korean make great, cute characters. Koreans need to work more on writing or story and on curriculum (the educational value).

Your homework for Unit 7
Unit 7 is about describing people. Page 82 includes personal ads - ads designed to help you find a date, a boy- or girl-friend, or a spouse. Below are some more, with explanations. You homework is to make your own personal ad and respond to one or two others.
Examples of personal ads with explanations:
"DWF, 44, nice body seeks nice stable man for walks on the beach and sunset dinners"
DWF- Divorced White Female. Students will probably be SAM (Single Asian Male) or SKF (Single Korean Female).
A stable man would be one with a stable job, unlikely to move away.
Walks on the beach and sunset dinners - My opinion is that this is a romantic woman who is not really interested in late night parties. She likes simple, natural things. You could write about dancing, sporting events, Night clubs, parties, going to the library....
-------------------
This one's creepy:
ATTACHED 58 year old doctor, caring, youthful seeks intelligent attractive woman for a discrete special relationship. All cultures welcome.
Attached = he's married.
--------------------
Funny:
Attractive SWM, 28, 6'1", 170 lbs, brown hair, blue eyes, seeks pretty SWF with great sense of humor. And restaurant coupons.
Single white male, 28 years old. 6'1" - American system = 183 cm. 170 lbs = 76kg. The 'restaurant coupons' bit is more humor.
--------------------
---------------------------
Now, make your own. Remember, there are a lot of 20 year old, black haired boys and girls in class - tell us something interesting about yourself - or lie!

Midterm exam - BuHaHaHa!
April 19/20 - I will arrange for about 12 students to attend class on this day and randomly assign them into pairs.
April 21/22 - the other 12 students in each class -I still need to decide what to do with students without friends (the odd one out).
We may meet in the hallway or in the front of the classroom, away from the other students. When the exam is finished for those two students, they immediately leave - this is not to prevent cheating so much as to reduce noise.
Part 1
Each student asks partner two questions from my list - I provide the main elements of the question. The list or elements are below.
Unit 1:
a) Where/from?
b) What/free time?
Unit 2
c) How many/family?
d) What/parents/do ?
e) What/ parent/do/ free time?
f) What/father/ look like?
Unit 3
g) What time/ school?
h) When/ finish/ school?
i) What/do/between classes?

Part two:

Unit one writing
Dear Students,
I’d like to tell you about myself. My name is Brian. I’m from Canada. I’m married and I have a son. I teach English in Busan. I live in an apartment near the sea. I usually teach five days a week. I love teaching. Of course, I spend a lot of time talking with my students. Every morning, I get up early to get my son to school. Then I go to work. After work, I exercise. At night, I surf the internet, read books with my son and play with him.
I like to travel. I always enjoy visiting new places and meeting new people.
Good luck with your English.
Yours,
Brian
